Play-Right, Players and Poets is a creative arts based theatre troupe for teens to explore the issues of dating violence, sexuality and violence in the families / communities against women. The theatre troupe has two primary functions.
The theatrical model is used to provide positively structured interaction while dealing with painful and challenging subject matters. Since the context can often be emotionally charged; the program is guided by a trained social worker / therapist. During the process, real "in-the-moment" learning occurs resulting from timely interventions. These interventions restructure the beliefs, attitudes and behaviors simultaneously thereby providing options and better results. The ultimate goal is to identify and stop the cycle of abuse. A critical factor is having each teen accept responsibility for the outcome of their choices and express themselves in a GENUINE and SAFE manner. "Violence in relationships is a learned behavior and consequently, it can be changed." -Sulaiman Nuriddin, M.A. (Men Stopping Violence)
